Bio
Born and raised in Hawaii, Paul Izak is a living example of the beauty of living simply and in harmony with nature. Performing as a soloist in vocal choruses as early as 2nd grade, he explored different interests before beginning to find his own voice in 2004. He picked up the harmonica from his uncle Brian, a local blues musician, as a teenager, and then began learning guitar his freshman year of college. In 2006 he started playing the handpan, further expanding his musical talents. This lead to a weekly drum circle he hosted on Kailua Beach for 3 years. From 2005-2013, Paul was also active as the lead singer/harmonica/percussion player for a local Hawaiian reggae band, Pressure Drop, who won the 2010 Mai Tai Rumble. This all led to the creative exploration and connections that allowed him to solidify his voice as a solo independent artist beginning in 2009. While performing live Paul Izak does both solo and trio shows. Sam Ites, the trio's drummer honed his skills as a studio recording artist, and previously touring with Mike Love. "The MAADKiNG" also has plenty of experience under his belt as a bassist and studio artist working with Herbnculture, The Vitals 808, and Maoli as well.
Paul Izak now plants "Seeds of Love" in his music and the soil, as a farmer focused on regenerative and permaculture practices. His music is a unique blend of genres, creating a medicine to remind us of the abundance of the 'Aina (the land that provides). He also runs an organization with his farm called Yogarden, which combines yoga, gardening, and music into educational events. His farmer roots and connection to the land mix with his love of yoga and conscious expansion to create lyrics and music that inspire healing and growth. Paul believes in honoring yourself as an individual so that you may better contribute to your community through healthy sustainable practices and it shows in everything he does.
